US President Donald Trump Affirms 'Largely, There Is Consensus' on Subsequent Phases of Truce Agreement for Gaza

President Trump has stated that "for the most part, agreement exists" on how the following steps of the truce agreement for Gaza will work, though he conceded that "certain specifics … will be worked out."

"They're assembling them now," the president commented, mentioning the remaining hostages in the region. "They find themselves in very difficult situations."

He, who has been commended by Hamas and numerous Israelis for his part in securing a truce agreement, expressed he believes the agreement will "remain in place" because "they're all exhausted by the conflict."

Planned Conference on Gaza Situation

Meanwhile, the president aims to bring together international leaders for a conference on Gaza during his visit to Egypt next week. Participants anticipated to participate are officials from the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the United Kingdom, Italy, the State of Qatar, the Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not be present.

Leader's Plans

The president stated that he would confer with a "numerous officials" in the city on next Monday to address the future of the territory. Sources indicate that he will also travel to the nation, where he will speak before the Knesset.

Major Updates

  • Many of Palestinians returned to the largely ruined northern Gaza on the end of the week as a US-brokered ceasefire took hold. The 48 individuals—some 20 of them believed to be alive—are to be released by next Monday.
  • Uncertainties persist over leadership in the region as Israeli troops retreat step by step and whether Hamas will relinquish arms, as called for in the proposed deal. PM Netanyahu, who terminated on his own a ceasefire in last March, indicated that the country might restart its operations if the group does not relinquish its weapons.
  • The United Nations was authorized by Israeli authorities to start distributing expanded aid into the territory starting on the weekend. The aid will involve 170,000 metric tons that have been pre-positioned in adjacent states such as Jordan and Egypt as aid workers expected authorization from Israel's military to recommence their work.
  • UN spokesperson the spokesman told journalists on last Friday that energy supplies, medical supplies, and vital resources have begun moving through the Kerem Shalom border point. Representatives are calling for the Israeli government to open more crossing points and guarantee protected transit for relief personnel and residents who are coming back to areas in Gaza that were experiencing severe attacks until only recently.
  • Lebanese President the head of state condemned the nation on last Saturday for carrying out nocturnal attacks on civilian facilities that the health authority said killed at least one person. "Yet again, southern Lebanon has been the object of a egregious attack by Israel against civilian structures—without justification or pretext," he stated.
  • The government disclosed a roster of the individuals in custody that it intends to release as part of the ceasefire agreement reached with Hamas. Of the 250 detainees, 15 will be released in East Jerusalem, a hundred to the West Bank, and the remainder will be expelled. Originally, when Hamas officials submitted a list of suggested prisoners to be let go to negotiators in the Arab Republic, they called for the release of well-known individuals such as Marwan Barghouti. However, Netanyahu's office stated it refuses to let go Barghouti.
