The Two Fatalities Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Continue Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the freeing by local law enforcement of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

His name was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were injured in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The assailant opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a authority informed the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that searched the lodging found a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was detained, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

An educational institution, a independent school in North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was an incredible light in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his promising future.”

Broader Statistics

The weekend's murders at Brown, the nation’s seventh-oldest university with about over seven thousand undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, took place amid one of at least nearly 400 mass shootings documented across the United States so far in the current year, according to records. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
