Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice

The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.

Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.

The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.

Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.

Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
