Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
