Bullish Celtic's manager does not fear being fired yet supporters display anger following loss.

Wilfried Nancy declared he was not afraid of dismissal, claiming, “The team is very near to a turnaround,” despite moving dangerously close to the chopping block with a convincing defeat by Rangers.

Another Meltdown Results in Old Firm Defeat

The home side had led Rangers at the break but a second-half capitulation enabled Danny Röhl’s team to pull level on points with the current Scottish Premiership champions. The former MLS manager, who was appointed from Columbus Crew, has now presided over six defeats in his first eight fixtures.

“The board and I are united with the board,” stated the manager.

Pressed on the speculation, the 48-year-old said: “That’s not my focus. I concentrate on working out methods to help my team to improve on the fine details.

Fan Fury Erupts

Hundreds of supporters made their feelings clear – directed at the dugout and directors – in their hundreds outside the stadium. The board would be most likely to bring back the former boss, who steered the club during a temporary stint last year, if Nancy departs.

He highlights the fact his team play well for a half at a time. In fact, were it not for missed chances they could have been more than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we didn't take a second goal,” he said. “I know that we lost, but it's important to stay objective.

“The standard we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. And I would not talk like that if it was not the case. That is the reason, regarding outcomes, I noted we've seen this before. That’s why I believe we are really close to a shift in fortunes. Currently: small things.”

“We produced plenty of positives that we did, as was the case today. The issue now comes down to sustaining it. My narrative would change if it was not the case. Therefore I firmly believe the team can to fix this.”

The Rangers Boss Stance

The victorious boss played down talk of a championship push in spite of what felt like a landmark win. “One match at a time, so we can develop a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the team is immense.”
