Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his team in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”
